Patience, it's a virtue!
 Friday, August 18, 2017

Remember to practice patience this weekend - it's a virtue!!

Tell people where they CAN go to watch the eclipse and enjoy our great county.  Lots of great information here.

Maps of the towns with camping areas and viewing areas and even toilets!

PANCAKES!!

Recap of Pancake Breakfast
 Wednesday, August 9, 2017

The FREE pancake breakfast was a HUGE hit this year.  Thanks to a great idea from Cheryl Deuel, we held the breakfast on the Platte County courthouse front lawn.  It was such a lovely place to make, serve and eat breakfast.

Huge thanks to all the volunteers that helped make it possible!!  Also kudos to Safeway and Thrifty Foods for their generous help and donations!!

And, of course, none of our events are possible without the support of all of the Platte County Chamber members.

Welcome to the LAUNCH!!  We’ve launched our new website.  We think it’s pretty cool.  However, what do we know!!  What we do know is that we want to know what you think…  please send your feedback to kit@plattechamber.com.  Looking forward to hearing from you!

SO YOU WANT TO SNAP A PIC OF THE SOLAR ECLIPSE

Or Do You?
 Monday, July 31, 2017

First thought: Just Be In The Moment. Experience the Solar Eclipse instead of putting your attention and energy into getting a photo of it to look at later. There will be thousands of excellent photos of the 2017 Solar Eclipse available after the fact--taken by professionals--why spend your two and a half minutes (or less) of Totality fiddling with the aperture on your camera? (And no...you can't get a photo of the solar eclipse with your phone, no matter what the ads for iPhone say...)

But in case you're dead set on trying to get that shot, do some research on the best practices. Start Here:

ARE YOU READY FOR THE ECLIPSE?

Plan Ahead for the Best Experience
 Thursday, July 20, 2017

Chances are most everyone in Platte County has made some kind of plan by now about where you'll be on August 21 for those amazing 2 and a half minutes or so of the Solar Eclipse.Remember to factor things like Traffic and Weather into your Eclipse Planning. Bring water, extra water, and food! Fill your gas tank...you may be stuck in some traffic.

Don't forget your Eclipse Shades. Get them ahead of time.

for great info all about the Eclipse!
